Grant Thornton UK and RSM Robson Rhodes merge

In line with the growth strategy of Grant Thornton International, Grant Thornton UK announced its merger with RSM Robson Rhodes on 29 April 2007. It is the biggest merger in the UK accounting profession since 1998.

The deal boasts fee incomes around ₤375 million a year. The combined group brings together over 300 partners and 4,400 staff operating from 33 locations in the UK and makes Grant Thornton the UK's fifth-largest accounting firm.

According to Michael Cleary of Grant Thornton UK, the deal sets up the enlarged business to challenge the current Big Four accountancy giants. The deal also added to the firm's already strong platform as an adviser and auditor to AIM-listed businesses and more than doubled its presence among FTSE companies.
